Commercial Pilot License

This course is for experienced pilots who wish to become Flight Instructors. Subject to meeting the experience requirements for the course, applicants for the FI certificate shall have passed a specific pre-entry flight test with a suitably qualified FIC instructor within the 6 months preceding the start of the course, to assess their ability to undertake the course. This pre-entry flight test shall be based on the proficiency check for class and type ratings.

Classroom Instruction and Computer Based Training is organized in three distinct modules.  This phase of training typically takes 24 months including inset time for consolidation, revision and block examinations. Students are required to pass the theoretical knowledge examinations in the following 14 subjects:

  • Air Law 1 & 2
  • Aircraft General Knowledge
  • Airframe/Systems/Powerplant
  • Aircraft General Knowledge — Instrumentation
  • Mass and Balance
  • Performance
  • Flight Planning and Monitoring
  • Human Performance
  • Meteorology
  • General Navigation
  • Radio Navigation
  • Operational Procedures
  • Principles of Flight
  • Radiotelephony 
  • Visual Flight Rules (VFR) Communications.

Flying Training: 

Typically the Flight Training will involve a minimum of  135 hours of instruction in the R-44 Single Turbine Engine helicopter, subject to the previous experience of the student and the strategic goals agreed with the customer.

Privileges:

The privileges of the holder of a CPL are to:

  • exercise all the privileges of the holder of an LAPL and a PPL;
  • subject to certain conditions, act as PIC or co-pilot of any aircraft engaged in commercial or non-commercial air transport operation

Course Requirements

  • Minimum age of 18 years old

  • Fluent in the English language

  • Completed Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) with 5 credits (including English, Mathematics and Science) or “O” level equivalent for prospective candidates outside Malaysia

  • Candidates shall hold a valid Malaysian Class 1 Aircrew Medical Certificate. (Note: A medical certificate acceptable by CAAM issued by a DAME).

  • Letter of Approval from the CAAM (obtained by submitting a communication of  interest to the CAAM along with the necessary medical documentation and academic qualification).
